Large drug laboratory dismantled in Bree, Belgium
Authorities in Bree, Belgium, have dismantled what prosecutors describe as one of the largest active drug laboratories discovered in recent years. During a raid on a warehouse by the Federal Judicial Police Limburg, investigators seized approximately 180 kilograms of finished MDMA crystals and over 700 kilograms of precursor chemicals used for synthetic drug production.
The laboratory was suspected of producing both MDMA and methamphetamine (crystal meth). In addition to the drugs and precursors, police found professional production equipment and 13 bottles of hydrogen gas. The dismantling process required two days of work by the specialized Clan Lab Response Unit and Civil Protection to safely manage hazardous chemicals and installations.
Five suspects have been arrested in connection with the operation. Four men—three Dutch nationals and one Belgian national—were detained following the initial raid. A subsequent search in Bree led to the arrest of a 34-year-old Belgian woman and the seizure of approximately 30,000 euros in cash. The investigation remains ongoing.
