Largo São Francisco revitalization project signed in São Paulo
The City of São Paulo has signed a cooperation agreement to revitalize Largo São Francisco, the site of the University of São Paulo (USP) Law School. The project aims to transform the area into a space for public stay rather than just a transit zone for vehicles and pedestrians.
Key features of the revitalization include increasing tree coverage and expanding sidewalks by 1,500 square meters. The plan intends to connect the historic USP arcades with the Palácio do Comércio by reducing vehicle traffic from four lanes to two.
The Association of Alumni of the USP Law School will lead the studies and is responsible for the full cost of the executive project. The association has a six-month window to develop the proposal. Once the project is finalized, the city will hold a bidding process to contract the construction work.
