Largo São Francisco revitalization and USP Law School aid

Overview

The City of São Paulo and the University of São Paulo (USP) Law School have entered into a cooperation agreement to revitalize Largo São Francisco. The project, led by the USP Law School Alumni Association, aims to transform the area from a transit zone into a public space by reducing vehicle lanes from four to two, expanding sidewalks by 1,500 square meters, and increasing tree coverage.

In conjunction with these urban improvements, the Alumni Association is launching initiatives to mark the bicentennial of legal studies in Brazil. This includes expanding the ‘Adopt a Student’ program, with a goal to increase scholarships for socioeconomically vulnerable students from 85 to 200. Each scholarship provides R$ 7.2 thousand annually to cover costs such as food, transportation, and academic materials.
