Larissa hosts 6th International Ancient Drama Network
The 6th International Ancient Drama Network, organized by the Thessalian Theatre in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, the Ephorate of Antiquities of Larissa, and the Municipality of Larissa, is currently taking place in Larissa from August 24 to August 30, 2026.
The event serves as a multidisciplinary platform for artistic, pedagogical, and research exchange, connecting ancient dramatic texts with contemporary societal needs. The program includes experiential workshops, theoretical seminars, and presentations involving university students, established artists, and academics.
Recent successful performances at the Second Ancient Theatre of Larissa included ‘Romeo and Juliet – A Midsummer Night’ by Rhiniosi Kyriazi and ‘Iphigenia in Aulis’ by Savvas Stroumpous. Upcoming activities include a public lecture by Alexandros Schismenou on August 29, followed by a presentation of the Citizens' Workshop titled ‘What is sacrifice, perhaps?’ led by Angeliki Karystinou. The event will conclude on August 30 with a presentation of a student workshop led by Andreas Andreou.
