Larissa Manoela wins court ruling to end lifelong record contract
The 15ª Câmara de Direito Privado of the Tribunal de Justiça do Rio de Janeiro upheld the rescission of a contract signed in 2012 when actress Larissa Manoela was 11. The contract, signed by her parents Silvana Taques and Gilberto Elias, bound her to Deck Produções Artísticas Ltda (Deckdisc) for life.
The court ordered Deckdisc to transfer ownership of all phonograms and videophonograms created during the contract to Manoela, hand over login credentials for YouTube, Spotify and other platforms, and prohibited the label from using or displaying the material without her permission. Non‑compliance will incur fines of R$ 5,000 and R$ 15,000. The decision confirms an earlier 2023 ruling that recognized Manoela’s autonomy to end the agreement.
