Overview

Brazilian actress Larissa Manoela has secured a legal victory regarding a contract signed in 2012 when she was 11 years old. The 15th Private Law Chamber of the Court of Justice of Rio de Janeiro upheld the rescission of the agreement, which had been signed by her parents, Silvana Taques and Gilberto Elias, and bound her to the label Deck Produções Artísticas Ltda. (Deckdisc) for life.

The court ordered Deckdisc to transfer ownership of all phonograms and videophonograms created during the contract term to Manoela. Judges also mandated the handover of login credentials for platforms such as YouTube and Spotify, and prohibited the label from using or displaying the material without her permission.

In a subsequent development, the court modified the sentence to explicitly state that all audiovisual materials produced during the contract term belong to the artist. This ruling follows an appeal by Deck Produções Artísticas Ltda., which had contested the lifetime interpretation of the document. The legal dispute intensified as Manoela reached adulthood and began managing her own professional and financial affairs.
