Larissa: Three arrested after police officers assaulted

On the night of Saturday, August 29, a violent confrontation occurred between members of the DIAS police unit and a group of individuals in the Ampelokipon neighborhood of Larissa, near the Zoodochos Pigi church.

The incident began when a 44-year-old man refused a police check, leading to a physical altercation where he reportedly struck officers with punches and kicks. The situation escalated when the man's father, brother, and a friend arrived and allegedly joined the assault, threatening and attacking the officers.

Three police officers sustained minor injuries and were transported to the University Hospital of Larissa for medical treatment. Authorities arrested the 44-year-old man, his father, and one friend. A fourth individual, the brother of the primary suspect, remains at large and is being sought by police. The detainees face charges including insult, violence against public officials, threats, disobedience, and physical harm.
