Larissa University Hospital receives 250,000 euro medical equipment upgrade
The University General Hospital of Larissa has received a significant upgrade to its Emergency Department through an investment of 250,794 euros by the Region of Thessaly. The new medical technology is designed to improve patient care by allowing doctors to perform critical examinations at the bedside, reducing the need for patient transfers.
The procurement includes two modern ultrasound systems, a ventilator, cardiopulmonary resuscitation equipment, electrocardiographs, a blood gas analyzer, video laryngoscopes, and patient transport systems. The department serves between 700 and 800 patients per shift, acting as a primary healthcare hub for Thessaly, Central Greece, and surrounding areas.
Regional Governor Dimitris Kouretas visited the department to inspect the equipment, which is already in use. The upgrade aims to save vital minutes during emergencies and improve safety and dignity for elderly or mobility-impaired patients.
