Thessaly regional infrastructure and health development

Overview

The Thessaly Regional Authority continues to execute development projects focused on infrastructure, agriculture, and public health. Recent efforts include urban and rural improvements, such as the creation of a bioclimatic neighborhood park on Aleuadōn Street in Larissa and the construction of rural roads in the Tsaritsani area of Elassona to support the agricultural economy. Recent developments include a nearly €4 million investment, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Fund, to enhance clinical and laboratory capabilities in Volos, Larissa, and Trikala. Implemented through the National Central Authority for Health Procurement (EKAPY), these upgrades include a new digital X-ray machine and portable ventilators at Achillopouleio Hospital (Volos), an angiograph and artificial kidney machine at the General Hospital of Larissa, and a gastroenterology system at the General Hospital of Trikala. In addition to medical advancements, the region has addressed administrative and safety infrastructure. The vehicle fleet renewal in the Larissa regional unit is complete, with 13 modern vehicles acquired to replace a fleet over 25 years old.
