Las Delicias Zoo hosts specialized medical outreach for staff and visitors

The National Public Health System conducted a specialized medical outreach program at the Las Delicias Zoo in Maracay, Venezuela. The initiative targeted 65 workers—including veterinarians, caregivers, administrative staff, and laborers—as well as some zoo visitors.

Led by the ASIC La Cooperativa multidisciplinary team, the operation provided 378 health benefits and 85 medical consultations across 11 specialties, such as General Medicine, Gastroenterology, Physiatry, Optometry, and Dentistry. Complementary services included 80 preventive educational sessions, dental procedures, and clinical screenings for blood pressure, weight, and height.

In addition to medical consultations, the program provided 17 vaccine doses (including Yellow Fever, SRP, Pentavalent, and Polio) and distributed 3,900 units of medication to beneficiaries. Dr. Yosmary Lombano, the regional health authority, emphasized the importance of protecting the health of personnel dedicated to wildlife conservation and public recreation.
