Venezuela-India wildlife conservation partnership

Overview

Venezuela and India have entered into a memorandum of understanding to modernize Venezuela’s public zoo network and improve wildlife conservation. This partnership with the India-based Greens Center involves technical assistance, specialized equipment, and professional training.

A central element of the agreement is the development of a conservation center, aquarium, and a specialized wildlife and domestic animal hospital in La Guaira. The facility is expected to cover approximately 11,000 square meters and will feature laboratories, operating rooms, and diagnostic units. Additionally, a five-year academic exchange program will allow Venezuelan biologists and veterinarians to receive training at Vantara facilities in India, with initial modernization efforts focusing on the El Pinar and Caricuao zoos in Caracas.
