Las Heras: Police officer shoots suspect during ride-hailing robbery

A police officer from the 7th Precinct was injured during an attempted robbery while working as a driver for the Maxim ride-hailing platform in Las Heras, Argentina. The incident occurred near the 30 de Octubre neighborhood around 11:00 PM on Monday.

Criminals intercepted the officer's vehicle to demand his earnings. During the physical assault, the officer used his service weapon to defend himself, resulting in an exchange of gunfire. One suspect sustained serious injuries and was transferred from Hospital Carrillo to Hospital Central for emergency treatment.

Homicide Prosecutor Claudia Alejandra Ríos is leading the investigation. Forensic teams and homicide divisions are currently analyzing ballistic evidence and shell casings collected at the scene to determine the exact dynamics of the confrontation and whether the assailants also discharged firearms.
