LASUTH doctors issue 7-day ultimatum to Lagos State Government
The Association of Resident Doctors at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH-ARD) has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Lagos State Government to resolve unpaid allowances and salary arrears.
The association's demands include the implementation and payment of the Specialist Allowance for Grade Level 14 resident doctors (Senior Registrar 1), as well as the settlement of outstanding salary shortfalls and promotion arrears. Dr. Gabriel Akerele, President of LASUTH-ARD, stated that despite assurances and a meeting with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on July 17, the specialist allowance was missing from the August salary payments.
Failure to meet these demands within the week could lead to further industrial action, potentially causing significant disruption within the state’s health sector. This follows a previous three-day warning strike held in June regarding welfare and working conditions.
