LATAM Airlines adds 28 Airbus and Boeing jets as fleet tops 400 aircraft

LATAM Group plans to operate the largest fleet in its history, reaching about 410 aircraft by the end of 2026. The carrier will receive 13 new‑generation planes in the first half of the year and a further 28 before year‑end, mixing Airbus A320neo, A321neo and Boeing 787‑9 models with existing Boeing 787‑8 and 777‑300ERs. The first Embraer E195‑E2 will join the Brazilian network in October, and an Airbus A321XLR is slated for delivery in 2027.

The airline’s strategy favours flexibility over a single‑type fleet, allowing capacity to match market demand but increasing pilot training, maintenance and spare‑parts complexity. LATAM expects newer aircraft to cut fuel use and CO₂ emissions by 15‑25% by decade’s end and is targeting a 30% share of the Colombian market while maintaining operations to Venezuela for passengers and humanitarian aid.
