LATAM Airlines announces new flight routes in South America

LATAM Airlines has announced significant expansions to its flight operations in South America. The airline plans to launch a new direct route between Asunción, Paraguay, and Montevideo, Uruguay, during the first quarter of 2027. This new service will operate five times per week, providing approximately 7,000 seats weekly between the two nations. This expansion is part of a broader strategy to increase LATAM's presence in Paraguay, with total weekly frequencies from the country expected to rise from 26 to 37 by 2027.

Additionally, LATAM will launch a direct route between Santiago, Chile, and Salvador de Bahía, Brazil, starting January 3, 2027. Initially operating three times per week using Airbus A320 aircraft, the route aims to reduce travel time by approximately three hours compared to current connections through São Paulo. Following the high season, the frequency will adjust to once per week starting in March 2027.
