LATAM and TAP boost Brazil‑Europe airline links

LATAM Airways launched a new nonstop service between São Paulo and Brussels on 1 June, operating three times weekly with Boeing 787‑9 aircraft. The route, which faces no direct competition, is intended to increase passenger options and high‑value cargo capacity between Brazil and Belgium.

Portugal’s flag carrier TAP announced a major expansion of its Brazil network, adding 15 routes that will carry an estimated 2.1 million passengers and generate about 30 % of its total revenue. The new schedule includes a Lisbon‑Curitiba flight beginning in July and a Lisbon‑São Luís service launching in October, with further proposals under review for cities such as João Pessoa and Goiânia. TAP’s growth comes as the airline moves toward privatisation, with potential investors including Lufthansa and Air France‑KLM.
