Latam CEO reports increased traveler willingness to pay higher airfares

Latam CEO Roberto Alvo reports that travelers are increasingly willing to pay higher airfares, viewing travel experiences as a higher priority than physical goods in the post-pandemic era. This shift in consumer behavior is occurring despite rising operational costs.

Alvo noted that the airline industry has faced challenges due to unpredictable and sustained high fuel prices. These cost increases are often passed on to passengers or absorbed by companies, impacting profit margins. He highlighted the difficulty of managing tickets sold before sudden fuel price spikes. Despite these economic pressures, Latam was recently recognized by Skytrax as the ‘Best Airline in South America’ for its service.
