Latin America Private LTE/5G Networks Expand in Brazil and Colombia

In Brazil, telecom operator Claro is deploying private 4G and 5G networks for large‑scale industrial clients such as Nestlé, Gerdau, Usiminas, Rumo and state oil giant Petrobras. The networks link robots, IoT sensors, heavy machinery and autonomous vehicles in remote mining, offshore platforms and port facilities, offering low‑latency connectivity for automation, remote inspection and AI analytics.

In Colombia, the National Spectrum Agency (ANE) oversaw a technical trial of the 900 MHz band for private LTE carried out by Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM). The test demonstrated reliable performance for smart‑grid, smart‑metering, substation monitoring and emergency communications, and will inform future regulatory rules for private networks until September 2026.
