Latin American agricultural leaders discuss sustainable financing and productivity

Officials and industry leaders from Argentina, Brazil, and Bolivia recently met at the Sociedad Rural Argentina to discuss sustainable financing for livestock production. The discussions focused on aligning public policy with private investment to meet international environmental standards without creating barriers for small-scale producers. Manuel Chiappe, Argentina’s Undersecretary of Agricultural and Forestry Production, emphasized that macroeconomic stability—including inflation reduction and exchange rate unification—is essential for expanding investment opportunities.

In Bogotá, Colombia, the Expo Agrofuturo 2026 event opened at Corferias to address critical productivity gaps in the region. Reports from IICA, CEPAL, FAO, and CAF indicate that total factor productivity in Latin American agriculture grew by only 0.9% annually over the last decade. The exhibition brings together over 350 companies to address the simultaneous need for increased productivity, capital, and market access to prevent technical and institutional stagnation in the sector.
