Latin musical ensembles celebrate milestones in Peru and Chile

Musical groups in Peru and Chile are celebrating significant milestones in their respective traditions. In Peru, the ensemble Cosa Nuestra de Tito Manrique will perform “Historia de la Salsa Criolla” at the Teatro Manuel A. Segura on October 24 to mark 25 years of their career. The concert will feature the full orchestra and key performers, alongside plans for a new album, “Romántico y Rumbero,” in 2027 and an international tour in 2026.

In Chile, the legendary tropical orchestra La Sonora Palacios is approaching its 65th anniversary in 2027. The group, which Marti Palacios Jr. credits with the birth of Chilean cumbia, is set to headline a version of La Cumbre Guachaca this weekend. The ensemble continues to represent three generations of the Palacios family.
