Latvia advances regional healthcare development and digital literacy

Regional leaders and health officials in Latvia are focusing on expanding healthcare accessibility and digital literacy. In the Kurzeme planning region, the Development Council met to discuss the evolution of the North Kurzeme Regional Hospital. The hospital aims to achieve multi-profile status by 2027 and is actively working to attract medical professionals through practical training and local housing support.

Simultaneously, in the Vidzeme region, the Strenči Psychoneurological Hospital is set to pilot 'DEAHLKit' in November as part of the 'DEAHL Baltic' project. This digital health literacy e-learning program is designed to help doctors, nurses, and administrators better support patients in navigating digital health services and improving communication.

These initiatives reflect broader efforts to modernize the Latvian healthcare system through both infrastructure development and the digital transformation of medical staff skills.
