Latvia expects heavy rain and thunderstorms amid cyclone activity
Latvia is experiencing significant rainfall this September, with most observation stations already exceeding monthly precipitation norms. The Priekuļi station has recorded a high of 156.3 mm.
According to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre, active cyclone activity will continue to influence the weather throughout the week. This includes widespread precipitation, potential thunderstorms in certain areas, and gusty winds. Coastal areas may experience wind gusts between 15–17 m/s.
Forecasts indicate heavy and prolonged rain, particularly in central regions, toward the end of the work week as a new cyclone approaches from the east. Temperatures are expected to remain relatively cool, with daytime highs ranging between +10°C and +15°C. Conditions are expected to shift toward drier and sunnier weather early next week due to the influence of an anticyclone.
