Latvia expects warm spell and fire‑risk warning in late May

The Latvian meteorological service forecasts that the first half of next week will be cooler, with daytime temperatures generally below +20 °C and occasional rain. In the second half of the week, especially in the most sunlit areas, temperatures are expected to rise to around +20 °C, bringing a brief period of summer‑like warmth.

Rainfall is likely across the country, particularly in Latgale and Selija, while the wind from the north‑east will reach 9‑14 m/s on Saturday. The forecast also notes an elevated risk of forest fires in many regions as the dry conditions persist into early next week.

The outlook reflects typical May variability, with recent highs of +28 °C in Daugavpils and night‑time lows dipping below zero, but no new cold records set.
