Latvia plans new wind farm developments in Aizkraukle and Kuldīga

Two new wind farm projects are entering the public consultation phase in Latvia as part of efforts to expand the country's green energy infrastructure.

In Aizkraukles municipality, the Koknese wind park is planned near the border of Aizkraukles and Koknese parishes. The project, proposed by SIA Rivereto, involves the construction of up to 14 next-generation wind turbines with a total capacity of up to 100 MW. Each turbine is expected to reach heights of 250 meters. The development includes necessary electrical transmission infrastructure, assembly sites, and access roads. Public discussion regarding the environmental impact assessment is scheduled to run until November 15, 2026.

In Kuldīgas municipality, the Kabile wind park project is being proposed by SIA EWE Neue Energien 7, a company owned by Eurowind Energy and Neue Energien Ingenieurplanungen GmbH. The plan involves installing up to 13 wind turbines, each with a potential capacity of 8 MW. The initial public consultation period for this project is set from October 2 to October 22, 2026, with a public meeting scheduled for October 13.
