Latvia braces for strong thunderstorms and heat wave in late July
The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre forecast that on Monday, 27 July, parts of the country will experience strong rain showers and thunderstorm activity, especially in the western and central regions. Temperatures are expected to range from +14 °C to +18 °C, with wind speeds reaching 15–16 m/s in the west.
On Tuesday, 26 July, the forecast calls for a notable rise in temperature, reaching up to +26 °C in some areas, while the rest of the country will see highs between +23 °C and +26 °C. A brief spell of rain is possible along the coast, but overall conditions will be mostly sunny and warm. Additional forecasts indicate that Friday’s highs could reach +23 °C.
Overall, the upcoming week will shift from cooler, cloud‑covered conditions to significantly warmer weather with intermittent thunderstorms across Latvia.
