Latvia weather warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms

Latvia is expecting heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds on Friday. The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre (LVĢMC) has issued yellow-level warnings for heavy rain and thunderstorms, particularly in the Kurzeme and Vidzeme regions.

Wind gusts are expected to reach speeds of 12 to 17 meters per second. Due to heavy precipitation and saturated soil, there is a risk of water levels rising from coasts in Kurzeme and flooding in low-lying areas in Vidzeme. A yellow warning for high water levels remains in effect for Kurzeme until Monday.

Temperatures are forecasted to range between +16 and +19 degrees Celsius across most of the country, while Riga may see temperatures not exceeding +18 degrees Celsius amid potential heavy rain and thunderstorms.
