Latvia wins European U16 basketball championship

The Latvia U16 men's national basketball team won the European U16 Championship in Oradea, Romania, defeating France 75-69 in the final. This marks the first time the Latvian squad has secured the gold medal in this category.

Benjamin Berrouet led the Latvian performance with 22 points and 13 rebounds. Other key contributors included Markuss Jahovičs with 15 points and Markuss Aleksandrovs with 14 points. Latvia completed the tournament undefeated after previously defeating Spain 92-87 in the semifinals.

France took the silver medal, while Spain secured the bronze after defeating Lithuania. The Latvian women's U16 team also saw success in the tournament, recording a 74-63 victory over Israel.
