Latvia faces rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds at start of week

The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre warns that the week beginning Monday 27 July 2026 will be marked by rain, thunderstorms and strong wind gusts of 15–17 m/s, especially along the coast. Overnight temperatures will be 14‑18 °C, while daytime highs reach 22‑27 °C, with cooler conditions in the western part of the country (18‑21 °C).

Mid‑week (Tuesday and Wednesday) will see alternating sunny intervals and cloud cover, with occasional showers and a chance of further thunderstorms. By Friday the weather is expected to improve markedly, becoming the warmest and driest day of the week, with temperatures exceeding 25 °C across most of Latvia. The overall trend points to a warmer, more settled pattern toward the weekend.
