Lauf and Klosterlechfeld top German Stadtradeln bike campaign

The municipality of Lauf in Baden‑Württemberg recorded 103 cyclists covering 228 kilometres between 1 May and 21 May, saving over four tonnes of CO₂. Five teams competed, with the Kolpingfamily team leading in total kilometres (10 280 km) and the Zink Ingenieure GmbH group posting the highest per‑capita mileage. Mayor Bettina Kist presented the winning teams with Edeka shopping vouchers and individual cyclists with bicycle‑accessory coupons.

In neighbouring Klosterlechfeld, participants rode through the region and paused at a local café for coffee, highlighting the social aspect of the campaign. The café owner explained, “Wir stecken hier unser ganzes Herzblut rein,” emphasizing the community spirit behind the event. Both towns view the Stadtradeln initiative as a way to promote everyday cycling, reduce emissions, and strengthen local engagement.
