Laurence Ferrari appointed to lead CNews' presidential debate coverage for 2027 election

Laurence Ferrari has been appointed director of the "Presidential 2027" unit at CNews, the 24‑hour news channel owned by the Canal+ group and billionaire Vincent Bolloré. In her new role she will present and coordinate the major political debates and electoral programmes ahead of France’s 2027 presidential election.

The appointment, announced by CNews general director Serge Nedjar, comes as the channel seeks to regain its audience lead after BFMTV overtook it in early 2024. CNews has faced recent regulatory scrutiny from ARCOM for a perceived lack of pluralism in its coverage of security, immigration and other contentious topics. Ferrari, a long‑time CNews journalist who also hosts "Punchline" and "La grande interview" and has chaired the Journal du Dimanche brand since September 2024, is seen as a trusted figure to steer the network’s political coverage during the upcoming campaign. The move follows internal turbulence, including the Morandini affair and the departure of star presenter Sonia Mabrouk.
