Lava launches UK budget smartphones to challenge Samsung

Indian smartphone maker Lava announced its first European expansion by launching a range of budget devices in the United Kingdom. The company’s marketing campaign directly references Samsung with slogans such as “Escape the SAMe cycle” and “Buying new shouldn’t feel so… SAMe,” positioning its phones as cheaper, cleaner alternatives that run near‑stock Android without pre‑installed bloatware.

Lava plans to price the new models around £300 (roughly 1,500 zł), targeting the mid‑range and budget segment where Samsung currently dominates the UK Android market. The launch follows Lava’s earlier exports to Nepal, Bangladesh and limited forays into the Middle East, Africa and Latin America, marking a strategic push to compete with the Korean giant on price and simplicity.
