Russia's Lavrov says US is no longer a neutral mediator and vows to achieve goals without Washington

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told diplomats in Moscow that the United States has abandoned its role as an impartial mediator in the Ukraine peace process. He warned that Washington is abandoning its aspiration to be a neutral broker and that Russia will pursue the objectives of its special military operation independently, without relying on American assistance.

At the G7 summit, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Russia should reach an agreement and indicated that the United States could reimpose sanctions that had been lifted. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio affirmed continued willingness to act as a mediator, while Ukrainian officials discussed progress on licensing production of Patriot‑type missiles. Lavrov also accused Europe of becoming the main threat to global peace and reiterated Russia’s commitment to its war aims despite the diplomatic friction.
