Lavrov says US ignored Alaska summit proposals on Ukraine settlement

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the United States has yet to respond to concrete proposals for a Ukrainian settlement that were presented at the Russia‑US summit in Anchorage, Alaska, in August 2025. The meeting, attended by President Vladimir Putin and former President Donald Trump, produced what Lavrov described as a “compromise” aimed at ending hostilities and moving toward a sustainable peace. He noted that after the summit the U.S. consulted European partners and Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy but still provided no answer. Lavrov also pointed out that the United States has extended existing sanctions on Russia and imposed new ones. Speaking at the Primakov Readings forum and later at an embassy round‑table, he reiterated Russia’s stated objectives in Ukraine, emphasizing the security of the Russian Federation and the safety of its people.
