Law enforcement conducts crackdowns on human trafficking and prostitution in India and Thailand

Law enforcement agencies in India and Thailand have conducted separate operations targeting human trafficking and illegal prostitution.

In New Delhi, police dismantled a human trafficking network operating at a brothel on GB Road. Three women were arrested, and two victims were rescued. One victim, a 26-year-old mother from West Bengal, had been lured to Delhi with promises of employment before being sold to a brothel caretaker. A second victim, aged 28, was reportedly being coerced through threats against her child. Cases have been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.

In Pattaya, Thailand, authorities conducted a crackdown on street prostitution in popular tourist areas. A team of 20 officials, including social workers, detained 25 women from Thailand, Laos, and Uganda. The operation occurred ahead of the arrival of the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier. The detained individuals were fined and released following processing at a local police station.
