Law enforcement crackdowns on human trafficking

Overview

Law enforcement agencies in India, Thailand, and Taiwan have conducted various operations targeting human trafficking and illegal sex businesses.

In late August, police in New Delhi dismantled a trafficking network at a brothel on GB Road, resulting in three arrests and the rescue of two victims. Simultaneously, authorities in Pattaya, Thailand, detained 25 women from Thailand, Laos, and Uganda during a crackdown on street prostitution in tourist areas.

By late September, similar raids occurred in Delhi and Taipei. In Delhi, police busted a racket operating from a spa in Paharganj, arresting four individuals and rescuing eight women from various regions, including Nepal. In Taipei, a raid in the Wanhua district led to the detention of 17 Thai women, one Vietnamese woman, two male customers, and a male operator. Officials noted that several of the detained Thai women had overstayed their permitted stays in Taiwan.
