Law professor calls for war crimes charges against Trump over Iran strike
Bennett L. Gershman, a law professor at Pace University, is calling for the International Criminal Court to charge Donald Trump with war crimes. This demand follows a UN Human Rights Council report regarding a military strike in Iran.
The report details a February 28 attack on a girls’ school in the southern Iranian city of Minab, allegedly carried out by American forces. The strike resulted in 157 deaths, including 123 children aged 13 or younger, 26 female teachers, a pharmacy worker, seven parents, and a school bus driver. Investigators concluded the school was an intended target, noting that the campus was hit twice in quick succession, leaving survivors with nowhere to hide.
Gershman’s call for accountability stems from rhetoric used by Trump during a recent address to the UN General Assembly, where he expressed intentions to destroy Iran and boasted of using force to make America the greatest country. Gershman argues that such statements align with the brutal realities documented in the UN report.
