Law Society of Kenya Calls Nationwide Court Boycott for July 22, 2026
The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) announced that all advocates will stay away from court proceedings nationwide on Wednesday, 22 July 2026. The boycott, declared by LSK President Charles Kanjama, is intended to pressure the judiciary for greater accountability, efficiency and reforms after ongoing complaints of judge misconduct and delays in case management.
In addition to the one‑day nationwide boycott, LSK ordered an indefinite targeted boycott of courts presided over by judges or judicial officers who have obtained court orders blocking investigations by the Judicial Service Commission or the Ethics and Anti‑Corruption Commission. The society clarified that the boycott does not halt the filing of pleadings or the handling of interim matters such as extending or resetting hearing dates.
The move follows a recent LSK‑organised march in Nairobi and concerns raised after the deaths of two advocates, highlighting the bar’s frustration with perceived corruption and systemic inefficiencies within Kenya’s justice system.
