Lawsuit and assault investigation follow scuffle at Trump rally in Youngstown
A federal lawsuit has been filed by a couple seeking $30 million in damages following their removal from a Donald Trump campaign rally in Youngstown, Ohio, on Oct. 12. The plaintiffs, identified as John and Jane Doe, allege they were violently ejected from the Covelli Centre after shouting dissent toward U.S. Senator Jon Husted and expressing views regarding the Epstein files.
The lawsuit names Husted, the city of Youngstown, Mahoning County Sheriff Jerry Greene, several deputies, and Ironwood Protection Group as defendants. The plaintiffs claim that during the removal, an officer grabbed John Doe by the head and neck, slamming him to the ground and breaking his glasses and smartphone. They further allege that Jane Doe was also assaulted while attempting to protect her husband.
Separately, Mahoning County Sheriff Jerry Greene announced an ongoing investigation into an alleged assault involving three men and a female protester, Blake Miley, during the same event. Video footage reportedly shows at least one man punching Miley in the face and pulling her hair after she shouted at the former president.
Authorities have identified two local men and one individual from New Jersey as being involved in the altercation. The Sheriff’s department expects to conclude the investigation soon, with at least one individual likely to face a misdemeanor assault charge. The county prosecutor noted that charges cannot be filed based solely on internet video, as it may not capture the entire event.
