Lawyer Fernando Burlando threatened during Pity Álvarez murder trial

Lawyer Fernando Burlando, representing the family of Cristian Díaz in the trial against Pity Álvarez, has received death threats via an audio message sent to his mobile phone. The intimidation was reported to the Tribunal Oral en lo Criminal y Correccional Nº 29 during the resumption of hearings regarding the 2018 crime.

Fabián Améndola, a lawyer for the prosecution, informed the court that the message was received on a Friday morning. The sender of the audio criticized Burlando’s legal intervention, accusing him of ‘attacking Pity’ for representing the Díaz family. The individual also made disparaging remarks about the deceased, Cristian Díaz, stating he ‘was well dead.’

The threat included a direct warning that the perpetrator would wait for Burlando outside the courthouse, with the message stating: ‘You are going to have to get dentures again because I am going to knock out all your teeth.’ Burlando has moved to formalize the complaint with the judiciary as the trial continues with witness testimonies.
