Lazio modifies stadium plans for €480 million Flaminio project

Lazio is revising its plans to reconstruct the historic Flaminio stadium in Rome to secure necessary approvals. The club is adjusting the original design to address objections from authorities, which has led to a reduction in both capacity and height.

The initial proposal, presented in February 2026, aimed to increase the stadium's capacity from approximately 25,000 to 50,750 spectators with a budget of €480 million. The revised plan reduces the capacity to 47,000 seats, a decrease of roughly 7.4%. Additionally, the height of the structure will be limited to align with the neighboring Auditorium Parco della Musica, designed by Renzo Piano.

The project aims to transform the abandoned Flaminio site into a modern football venue by 2032, allowing Lazio to move away from sharing the Stadio Olimpico with Roma.
