Lazio region bans outdoor work during peak heat hours

The Lazio regional government has renewed its anti‑heat measures for the summer, issuing a new ordinance signed by President Francesco Rocca. The rule prohibits outdoor or sun‑exposed work between 12:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on days classified as “high risk” by the national Worklimate heat‑risk map. It applies to sectors most vulnerable to extreme temperatures, including construction, agriculture, floriculture, logistics and bike‑ or scooter‑based deliveries.

The ordinance, effective until 15 September, excludes public administrations and entities carrying out civil‑protection or public‑utility tasks. Rocca stressed the priority of worker health and safety, and the region will monitor conditions, hold talks with unions and employer groups, and consider additional measures if heat risks worsen.
