Italian Democratic Party restructures local leadership and seeks disaster aid
The Democratic Party (PD) held a press conference in Anagni, unveiling a new local secretariat and urging progressive forces, including LiberAnagni and civil groups, to form a broad centre‑left coalition ahead of upcoming municipal elections.
In the Val di Cornia‑Elba region, the PD territorial assembly elected Bernardo Giannoni Gentilini as federation secretary and Elisa Cecchini as president, outlining a programme focused on left‑wing policies for work, health, education and renewable energy, and preparing for the next local elections.
The PD provincial secretariat in Naples reviewed the recent regional election results, noting that several municipal councils in the hinterland still lack appointed executives and highlighting internal tensions over governance and public‑service issues.
Separately, the PD circle of Rieti appealed to the Lazio regional authorities and the national government to declare a state of natural calamity after a severe hailstorm on 29 June 2026 damaged roughly 3,000 hectares of crops in the Piana Reatina, stressing the need for swift financial support to farmers.
