Lazio implements new regulations for medical and dental practices
The Lazio Region has introduced new regulations redefining the types of professional medical and dental practices that do not require specific authorization to operate. The new measure replaces previous regional decrees to eliminate interpretative doubts and harmonize administrative procedures.
According to Antonio Magi, president of Omceo Roma, the regulation successfully distinguishes individual or associated professional studios from complex healthcare facilities. This distinction allows for a simplified administrative regime based on a communication of start of activity for professionals, associations, or professional companies (Stp), provided their activities do not involve high clinical risk or high organizational complexity.
Under the new rules, procedures such as outpatient surgery, complex diagnostic or therapeutic procedures, imaging diagnostics, and clinical analysis remain subject to the authorization regime. The measure aims to reduce unnecessary bureaucracy and provide greater legal certainty while maintaining health protections.
