Lazio region receives top Gambero Rosso awards for wine and oil
The Lazio region has achieved significant recognition in the Italian gastronomic landscape, securing top honors from the Gambero Rosso guides. According to the Guida Vini d’Italia 2027 and the I Migliori Oli d’Italia 2026/2027, the region earned eleven Tre Bicchieri awards for its wines and thirteen Tre Foglie awards for its extra virgin olive oils.
The awards highlight the quality of local production across diverse territories, including the volcanic soils of Castelli Romani, the Agro Pontino microclimate, and the hills of Tuscia and Sabina. Notable wine varieties recognized include Cesanese, Bellone, and Malvasia Puntinata, while the olive oil sector was bolstered by indigenous cultivars such as Caninese, Carboncella, Salviana, and Itrana.
Regional officials, including Agriculture Assessor Giancarlo Righini and Arsial President Massimiliano Raffa, noted that these achievements reflect the strategic importance of the wine and oil sectors to the local economy and the successful investments made by regional enterprises to enhance competitiveness on national and international markets.
