Leonardo and Baykar launch LBA Systems at Farnborough Airshow 2026

The Farnborough International Airshow 2026 is being held in the United Kingdom from 20 July, featuring a strong Italian presence. The Lazio regional government will exhibit a dedicated pavilion, showcasing 20 aerospace companies under the leadership of Deputy‑Minister Roberta Angelilli.

Leonardo is using the show to underline its role as a global security player, presenting a portfolio that spans aircraft, helicopters, unmanned systems, cyber‑solutions and AI‑enabled sensors. CEO Lorenzo Mariani highlighted the need for integrated, multi‑domain capabilities.

During the event Leonardo and Turkish defence firm Baykar announced that their 50/50 joint venture, LBA Systems, has achieved full operational readiness, receiving the required regulatory approvals and appointing its leadership. Based in Italy, LBA Systems will combine Leonardo’s electronics and payload expertise with Baykar’s advanced UAV platforms.

ELT Group also participated, displaying electromagnetic‑spectrum solutions and its work on the Eurofighter Typhoon and the Global Combat Air Programme. The combined activities underline the growing collaboration between Italian aerospace firms and international partners at the show.
