Lazzaro Carabinieri Station inaugurated in Calabria, Italy
The new Carabinieri headquarters in Lazzaro, Calabria, was inaugurated in the presence of Undersecretary of the Interior Wanda Ferro, Carabinieri Legion “Calabria” commander Division General Riccardo Sciuto, and mayor Giovanni Verduci. Civil, military and religious authorities, as well as local citizens, attended the ceremony.
The building, confiscated from organized crime in 2016, was transferred to the Carabinieri by the National Agency for Seized and Confiscated Assets and restored through a joint project involving the Municipality of Motta San Giovanni, the Calabria Region, the Prefecture of Reggio Calabria, the State Property Agency and the Provincial Carabinieri Command. Located in a strategic, easily accessible area, the station is intended to strengthen territorial security, especially during the summer tourism peak.
