Leaders in Burkina Faso and Senegal address religious communities
Burkina Faso President Ibrahim Traoré issued a message to the Catholic community and the nation on the occasion of the Assumption. He called for prayer, fraternity, and the strengthening of secular coexistence. Traoré urged citizens to use the occasion to find the collective strength needed to overcome current challenges and build a united, free, and sovereign nation.
In Senegal, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye met with the General Caliph of Darou Salam Chérif, Chérif Cheikh Sidaty Aïdara. The religious leader presented several development concerns for the religious city in the Bignona department, specifically requesting the renovation of the Kataba–Darou Salam road and the improvement of reception infrastructure for pilgrims and visitors.
