Leah Stewart survives four-meter great white shark attack

Leah Stewart, a 34-year-old mother from Sydney, survived a violent attack by a four-meter great white shark at Coogee Beach. The incident occurred on a Saturday morning as Stewart was finishing a routine swim.

During the encounter, the shark bit Stewart's leg and arm, causing massive blood loss and severe tissue damage. Stewart described the predator as having small, black, bead-like eyes and an enormous mouth. In an attempt to defend herself, she threw a left hook at the shark, which resulted in the animal biting her forearm.

Due to the severity of her injuries, medical professionals were required to amputate her left arm. Stewart credited her survival instinct and the thought of her young daughter as the primary motivations that allowed her to fight the predator and endure the struggle.
