Leav Aviation launches first direct Düsseldorf‑Damascus flight in 15 years

On 29 July 2026 Leav Aviation began operating a non‑stop service from Düsseldorf Airport to Damascus, marking the first direct connexion between Germany and Syria in almost 15 years. The route, using an Airbus A320‑200 with 180 seats, will run twice weekly and is aimed at the Syrian community in Germany as well as business travellers. The flight costs €502 one‑way with hand‑luggage.

The service was made possible after a new air‑traffic agreement between Germany and Syria was concluded in mid‑July 2026, providing the legal framework for direct flights that had been unavailable since the 2011 conflict. Approvals were granted by both Syrian aviation authorities and Germany’s Luftfahrt‑Bundesamt (LBA).
