Lebanese Amal leader Khalil Hamdan condemns Israeli tactics and calls for pause in direct talks

Khalil Hamdan, a member of the Amal political movement’s leadership board, addressed an audience in the southern town of Annqoun during a ceremony marking Ahmed Farhat’s week. He stated that the so‑called "experimental zones" are absent from Israeli behavior, describing them as risks to both land and people, and argued that Israeli delays should justify halting direct negotiations and their technical outcomes.

Hamdan linked the current conflict to a long history of Israeli attacks on Lebanon dating back to 1948, alleging a coordinated U.S.–Israeli plan targeting Lebanon and the wider region. He questioned why U.S. carriers and destroyers would travel 16,000 km for a border incident and suggested that village destruction and land erosion are part of a pre‑planned strategy rather than a reaction.

He called for national unity, referencing President Nabih Berri’s commitment to state institutions and urging avoidance of parliamentary deadlock that hampers legislation. Hamdan concluded by noting Israel’s failure to comply with international decisions and cited Gaza as evidence of daily Israeli transgressions.
